All He Said Was: Pack Your Bags, We Are Going to Mexico
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many brides working in the bridal beauty industry and always loved their vibe and happiness around them while planning and getting ready for their wedding day. I adored listening to their love stories and how romantically, funny or unique he or she proposed.

I fell in love with my best friend and roommate never imagining this would actually happen; Fernando and I have been together for a year and a half now, we met 2 years ago through my friend and ex-roommate Alba.
Our story began as friends, we always had a blast when we all went out together as a group although I never ever thought there could be anything between us. But like it’s said, “Never say never”
Being in the bridal industry I often wondered how it would feel like when the day will come for us. Today I’d like to share with you our story and how he proposed to me in a romantic dinner in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
Fernando is the kind of guy that will always find a way to surprise me, although he is so easy to read and he can almost never hold a surprise for too long.
Just recently he planned a winter get away and the only thing that he told me was “we are going to the beach in Mexico so ask for permission at work”. For weeks he wouldn’t tell me where exactly we were going, which hotel we were staying at and what plans we had for the week. To me any plan or any place sounded amazing, all I could think of was Mexico, sun, beach, and great food. What else could I ask for in a cold snowy February right?
We arrived to the Paradisus Playa del Carmen – La Esmeralda; it was an outstanding resort! 14 restaurants, 4 bars, a beach club and who knows how many swimming pools! I was the happiest of all, the service was extraordinary and the place was just a paradise!
The next day he asked me to wear comfortable shoes because we were going out for dinner. I had no idea where we were going; we started walking towards the beach and as we approached the beach a waiter asked us to follow him where he took us to a private dinner setting right in front of the beach. It was so romantic, so private and so beautiful that I almost start crying.

We had a wonderful 4 course dinner accompanied with Spanish cava; when the desert came I knew the moment was coming, he looked at me and said stop eating so fast! wait, wait I want to tell you something! All I could think was “Oh my gosh he is about to propose and I might’ve eaten the ring if it was in the cake!!”
He stopped for a second and said “Mi amor quieres vivir mas aventuras juntos? Quieres que te cuide toda la vida?” He pulled out the ring from his pocket and said “Te quieres casar conmigo? Te amo muchísimo para toda la vida.” Yes that is not English that is Spanish. In English will be sort of like this: Baby would you like to live more adventures together? Do you want me to take care of you forever? Would you marry me? I love you so much for ever. Of course I said yes!
I can now understand the feeling, the happiness and the vibe that flows around you in moments like this in life. I felt very happy and blessed and all I wanted was to share this incredible moment with my family and love ones.

The next day we were having drinks at Gabi Club, the beach club at the hotel and I glanced at a mister that looked just like my dad, I looked back again and I saw my parents, my sister and her husband walking towards us. I had no idea they were coming and I was so excited to see them. I started asking them how did you know we were here? What are you doing here? Did you know we were getting engaged before planning the trip? I couldn’t relate anything so I looked at Fernando for answers and all he did was laugh and smile back at me. Like I said before he always finds a way to surprise me!
We are getting married in Mexico in my hometown in the summer of 2016. We’ll have friends and family from around the world coming to share this special day with us.
I’m now officially a bride googling for ideas, dresses, venues, makeup and getting more confused as for what I want to do as I keep looking at all of the beautiful things there are for a wedding day.
If you have any ideas, recommendations or want to share any tips feel free to step in, from my end I will keep you posted with ideas I find, new trends and beauty tips that will help us all!
I’d like to give especial thanks to Jonathan from Kimberfire for the amazing ideas and help provided to my now fiancé Fernando. They did such a wonderful job on the ring, I loved it! 🙂
